Mesh Morphing in CFX ???

Does anyone know what mesh morphing actually is ??? A ppt document on the official ANSYS site talks about mesh morphing being used for large mesh deformation and to avoid re-meshing.It gives the example of ball valve and butterfly valve tutorial. My case is very similar to the ball valve.
But I cannot find any particular tutorial or theory on it ??? Can anyone help me with how I can implement mesh morphing in CFX??? Thank you very much. |

Butterfly valve and FSI in a ball valve tutorial does not mention mesh morphology anywhere ????? Can u name one tutorial that has mesh morphology ??????

Mesh morphing = moving mesh. Same thing.

Ooohhhhh !!!!!!! I should have known........I thought it was some kind of algorithm used for solving mesh diffusion equation !!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if mesh morphing == moving mesh only. I'm playing around with that feature right now to see if I can put it to some use to solve my problem. When I setup a mesh with Advanced / Mesh Morphing / Enabled, the initial mesh is created according to the imported CAD data. When I update the Geometry in Workbench and Update then the mesh, the initial mesh is stretched to fit the new geometry. I haven't figured out to what extend that stretching works but it seems that the same nodes of the previous mesh are automatically spatially relocated. Moreover, if I Duplicate that initial Mesh in Workbench, the Mesh Morphing seems to carry over into the Duplicate Mesh, which is nice so I can setup my array of interlinked Meshes to run several trials of the transient simulation without having to remesh every time again. I haven't figured out yet how far the Mesh Morphing stretches and what happens, when new nodes are created. And most importantly for my problem, if mass continuity is maintained that way between individual transient steps with separate meshes. Isn't it thrilling !!!

Inferring from what you wrote, is mesh morphing an option ??? that can be enabled or disabled ????? I dont think so !!!!!! How are you playing with it ????

Well, I'm warming up to the subject myself right now. Check out at the bottom of "Advanced" when you click on the Mesh Icon in the Feature Management Tree and try it. Let me know if you find out something new. I'm out for now on this topic. Good luck!

Am supposed to be using this mesh stiffness parameter which makes my mesh stiff along the boundary, and less stiff as it goes away. The stiffness range is from 1e-15 to 1e15.
Is it the stiffness effect the causes the BL to defom i guess. Am using 3 different mes snothings Ha anyone done the turotial # 22: Fluid structure interaction & nesh deformation ??? Thank you. |
