I am trying a new flowsolver called Wildkatze. I am just a beginner with it.

I see in stree or simulation set up file an option called auto-smoother. This is for amg method. It also mentions gauss-seidel as an option.

Does anyone know anything about "auto-smoother" and how it works.

Thank you.

well auto smoother is as name suggest a automatic smoother - it decides by itself what to do.

Basically this is added for calculations that produce difficult or inconsistent linear systems. This can happen if the mesh is not good or have near negative cells.

For example if a diagonal term = 0 appears and then you can not use regular smoothers like gauss seidel. (division by 0 will happen).

In this case auto smoother shall work out.

Use it if you have difficulty in convergence.

Thank you for replying.
