I have one big fluid volume in which I know that within a specific region a very fine grid is favourable (if not necessary). I guess using a decent mesh size for the entire volume is not possible since it costs too much, but doing it just in the preselected area might do the job. Is that possible and if so how do u do that? Do you need to have 2 volume bodies already created in the CAD or can you still choose the regions afterwards within the meshing program and if so, how?

according to http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...tml#post416246
I do not need to subdivide my region prior by using body of influence but all tutorials I found so far always have two bodies!?!

Hi,

This depends on which meshing program you are using. Usually, in unstructured meshing you can define a geometric object such as cube and then you can define different cell sizes inside and outside of the cube.

But that implies that these objects are part of a multibody so to say selectable...Not just one big body, right?

The refinement region (geometric object) is defined at the meshing stage. So your body is still just one big body.
