Hi,

I installed OpenFoam and now going through the manual.

However, my installation folder only has three folders:

Documents
ThirtParty
and
Windows where all the scripts are.

I searched my entire computer and I don't have any OpenFoam folders in my documents, I don't have any Tutorial folders, what's happening? Did my installation stuff up somewhere or what is going on?

Quick question: Which exact installation instructions did you follow?

I ask this because nowadays there are several OpenFOAM versions and supported Operating Systems and installation instructions. Knowing where things are depends on which version and installation instructions you have followed.

Unfortunately that is a very vague description... Do you mean that you've followed the instructions given here: http://www.openfoam.com/download/ins...ry-windows.php

If that is the installer that you have used, have you tried following the instructions given in section "Frequently Asked Questions" on that page?

Yep, just used the Windows binary and then installed all the other stuff that the prompts requested like Docker and Kitematic when they popped up during the install progress.

Reading through the FAQ, I can't find any of the folders as listed in the FAQ. I have two partitions C and D and installed everything on D drive, but I can't find those folders on either drive!

Sorry, I was unable to get back to you on this sooner.

I believe the reason you can't find the tutorial cases right now, is because they are still packed inside the Docker container. In order to access them, you need to start up the container and then from within you can follow the tutorial instructions given on the User Guide, which will lead to instructions to copy the "tutorials" folder to your own user-folder.

Therefore, you first need to start the Docker contained OpenFOAM environment, by double-clicking on the short-cut on your desktop which I believe is named "OpenFOAM_Start", which starts it up.

After you have the terminal up and running, allow me to quote what Pawan wrote sometime ago:

The location of tutorial can be found by running the command
echo $FOAM_TUTORIAL

You need to copy tutorial in workingDir folder .
Go inside the workingDir and then you can use following command to copy tutorial.

cp -ar $FOAM_TUTORIALS .

You can then run openfoam tutorial from terminal
There are several more details given at the thread where this quote is from: https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/op...tutorials.html

Beyond this, there is also a README here: http://www.openfoam.com/download/txt...adme_v1706.txt
