Hi all,

I am new OpenFoam user and I am trying to simulate external aero of a car in a half-car flow domain. I managed to set up my symmetry wall to "symmetryPlane" in blockMeshDict. I am now wondering what would be appropriate wall function for the symmetryPlane wall in 0.orig/nut file. Does it even need specifying? I am struggling to find any info on this topic.

Let me know if you need any more information to address my question.

Kind regards,
Olek

Hi!

There is a boundary condition called "symmetryPlane".
It's not a wall... You need wall functions on walls. Symmetry plane is like a "mirror".
Correct me if I'm wrong!

Hey,

Perhaps I haven't made myself clear. I have set patch type to "symmetryPlane" in blockMeshDict. However I also need to spec near wall turbulencefunction for said wall in 0.orig/nut. I don't think the option "symmetryPlane" is available for this file?

Thanks for your reply

Yes, I understand you.
You set the patch type to symmetryPlane. But the boundary condition for it is also called symmetryPlane. You can use it on nut too.
